OCDLA LegislativeCommittee

The OCDLA Legislative Committee, with the help of one full-time susbstantive issues lobbyist and one fiscal issues lobbyist, works to draft and promote legislation beneficial to the criminal justice system and to protect the constitutional and statutory rights of those accused of crime. The committee opposes legislation that would erode an individual’s constitutional rights and legislation that creates penalties that fall unequally upon those subjected to them. The committee also works to secure adequate funding for the public defense function and to raise the quality of both juvenile and adult representation.

The Legislative Committee sponsors a low-cost Legislative Drive-In during regular legislative sessions which brings members to the Capitol to meet with legislators and learn about the legislative process.

The committee meets weekly during legislative sessions and periodically during the interim. Contact Legislative Committee Chair Bob Homan or OCDLA Executive Directory John Potter for more information on how to get involved.
