Public Defense

Both adult and juvenile public defense in Oregon is funded by the state. The Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association assists in securing funds through legislative advocacy and public education. The Office of Public Defense Services (OPDS), a state agency, manages the funds and provides appellate level public defense. Trial level public defense services are provided by private lawyers and public defenders under contract with OPDS.
